IATEFL 2012:Marion Williams——Teaching young learne
In this talk Marion Williams first discussedthe teaching of thinking to children and outlined some of the thinking programmes available.He then presented a number of activities for primary EFL learners, designed to teach thinking through English while at the same time developing language skills, drawing from Herbert Puchta and Marion Williams’ book Teaching Young Learners to Think.
Marion Williams 教授通过大量的思维活动,阐释了教师如何教会学生用外语思考:例如List 10 ways to use a paperclip. Write words that describe both an apple and an orange. 这些都是学生喜闻乐见的活动,激发了广大听众的参与和讨论的热情。 高洪德老师在听完报告后表示:“教会学生用外语思考,是外语教学的目标之一,但又是教师常感到为难的事情。从中可以得到的启示是:在外语学习中培养思维能力既是教学目标,又是学习过程的需要。外语学习活动非常需要智力参与,应尽可能减少没有意义的活动和热闹。有思维深度的学习才是有活力的学习。”
